Food Review: Saltwater Cafe and Creek @ Changi Village Hotel

I was breaking my head thinking of where to bring my family for a nice lunch buffet for my parents' wedding anniversary. I was thinking of going to so many different places but just had no feel for those buffets. Finally, I came across this buffet. Saltwater Cafe and Creek located at Changi Village Hotel.

I first arrived there with my girlfriend before my family came later. When I walked in, I was shocked. There was practically no one there! I think saw no more than 10 people sitting around. I immediately hoped that I did not make a wrong decision. My girlfriend and I put down our stuff and walked around before my family came. I was actually pleasantly surprised. It was not a big spread of food but it was a good variety. Best of all, the food actually smelt good and looked good too.

When my family came in,  saw the immediate disappointment on my dad's face. I think he was wondering why there was no crowd at all. I guess it is human nature to believe that the food is bad if there is less people. And my brother immediately mocked my decision to have lunch here as well. I kept silent and just let nature take its course.

We settled down. Took photos of each other. I took photos of the place and the layout as well. And we grabbed some food and started eating. Then slowly, we realized that the food here was actually quite good. It was mainly Singaporean cuisine and it really tasted good.

They had food like chicken satay, pork satay, beef satay, mutton satay, roti prata, chicken rice, roast pork, fried rice, fried noodles, sushi, desserts, lor mee, sashimi, clay pot rice, popiah, durian pengat, cakes, pastries, lapis cake and seriously quite a few more which I honestly cannot remember because we went there quite some time ago. The food was really very much better tasting than what I had at Greenhouse. I was very pleased and my family was happy as well. The DURIAN PENGAT was out of this world!!! My girlfriend and I love the durian dessert from Dessert Bowl. And after eating this place's Durian Pengat, we loved this even more. It is somewhat like a durian paste with sago and it is served cold. Ultimate shiokness.

They also served clay pot rice on your table, which you order separately. It is also part of the buffet. They also serve teh tarik along with the usual coffee and tea, at your table itself.

On the whole, it was an amazing lunch because of the good tasting food, good staff who were there to assist when needed, very good ambience and good variety. I was actually thinking of not putting up this review at all because I simply enjoyed this for the fact that there was SO FEW PEOPLE THERE!!! I thought to myself, I know I have a very small readership and if I were to post this up, only a few people might go try out the place and these few people may not even like the place but if they do like it, they will tell more people and it can be a chain effect causing the crowd to increase over time!!! And then I will not be able to enjoy serenity in this wonderful place anymore. And then I thought for a bit longer, what if no one goes to this place and they have to ultimately close down the restaurant. I really would not want that to happen.

So people, all the 5 of you who are reading this post. Please please please go ahead and try out the buffet at this place. I hope they keep their standards consistent and I hope you have an enjoyable buffet like what my family and I had. Share with your friends and hope this place improves and becomes even more awesome than before.

Some photos. Sorry for some messy plating. I took random photos of the plates on my table that day.

Hello Mr.SimpleMakan! Do you have any nice recommendation for a dessert buffet, if there's any in Singapore?

I have not been to any dessert buffets. But I particularly enjoyed the desserts served at Trader's Hotel. :)

There's the Chocolate Buffet Bar at Marina Bay Sands. We also had the Afternoon Tea at the Fullerton Court.

Anyway, we had our ROM here - on the poolside 8th floor specifically . The food was superb but I didn't get to enjoy much of it because erm, there are other pressing things at hand.

We stayed the night and the breakfast buffet is amazing. My husband is not a big breakfast fan, let alone a buffet one, but he liked it here. And I loved it myself. :)
