Recently, I went to Nakhon Thai with my girlfriend. She has been there with her friends and wanted me to try as well. It is quite a cosy place. We were lucky there wasn't a queue when we reached but while we were waiting for the food, a queue of about 20 people had formed. There were really many people waiting patiently in line.
One reason why my girlfriend wanted me to come here for is the Red Ruby. She knows I love Red Ruby and she wanted me to try theirs. We ordered quite a number of dishes. Fried Tung Hoon, Fried Rice, Tom Yum Seafood Soup, Fried Lemon Chicken and Thai Iced Tea.
The food arrived very quickly. All in all, the food tasted good. It was affordable. And I would definitely recommend it to anyone. The staff were friendly and fast in service. The place was relatively clean as well. So if you are craving for Thai food, why not try Nakhon Thai. Just go early to beat the crowd. Here are some photos. Red Ruby is not in because it went into our stomachs before photos could be taken. Sorry!

Food Review: Red Lantern @ Fullerton Bay Hotel
Alright, I love awesome chillout places! And I loveeeee 1-Altitude which is located at 1 Raffles Place. I have yet to post about 1-Altitude but nevermind, I'll do it another time. My friend brought me to this place because I told her I loved 1-Altitude. She told me this place was way more chill than 1-Altitude so I had to give it a try as well.
First impression, WOW, quite a good view. The ambience was great. They have like day beds and stuff and just relaxing there gives you the best feeling ever.
I really had a super relaxing time. It was kind of warm but my friend did say it is usually windy. It was just that it wasn't very windy that night. The drinks were ranged $15 and up. There was free flow of peanuts. You guys should go there to chill too!

Food Review: Shin Kushiya @ Vivocity and Suntec City
I loveeee Japanese food. Most I guess. There are some which I know I do not like, for example, WASABI. I know I know. Who doesn't like wasabi but likes Japanese food right? Well, I like Japanese food, but I just do not appreciate wasabi. If it is in my food, I'll eat it without complains, but I just do not like it; I'll just eat it if I have to.
Two of my most favourite Japanese dishes will have to be Udon and Salmon sashimi. And finding a place which serves good quality sashimi and udon consistently is quite difficult in Singapore. So far, Shin Kushiya has never disappointed me. I think I can safely say that of the 5 to 6 times I ate at Shin Kushiya, I had the same food, Salmon Sashimi, Chicken Udon and Mentaiko Pasta. LOVE THESE!!!
The service is good. The price is like the regular restaurant prices. Affordable. Ambience here is always great as well. Simple and charming environment which makes you feel really comfortable.

P.S: Of the 5 slices of salmon sashimi we had, we happily finished 4 slices before I realised I forgot to take a photo. So that explains the missing sashimi picture. :-X

Food Review: Cheesecake Cafe @ East Coast Road!!!
A friend of mine brought me here. I love cheesecake, but as usual, I limit myself because I know how fattening cheesecake is. Moreover, eating more than just one slice of cheesecake makes me feel quite sick actually. I need a long time to slowly enjoy and savour the cheesecake.
But guess what, my friend loves this cheesecake soooooo much that she can eat more than two slices at one go! I mean with such a claim, how can I not try right? So we went there.
OMG, the place was actually quite cosy and nice. The staff were extremely friendly and the ambience was great. You can literally relax, do nothing and talk alot in there. They serve many different types of cheesecakes and a few non-cheese cakes. They have quite alot of drinks as well. We ordered a hot mocha, vanilla cheesecake and a Belgian chocolate truffles cake. I loved both of it! No complaints.

Food Review: RK House @ Serangoon Gardens
Roti prata, one of many true blue Singaporeans' most extremely loved food. I love it too. I used to have my own favourite stalls which I thought served the best roti pratas. I never really liked Jalan Kayu prata. They are over-priced and sometimes, the taste really bad. Thasevi, which is located at Jalan Kayu was quite good, but the standard was never ever consistent.
And then there was RK House. This place actually became famous from the sound clip; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBDA_4DKrbM. It is about a guy ordering pork from RK house. The entire sound clip is actually quite funny, but you need to have a good sense of humour and open mind to laugh it off. And if I'm not wrong, this sound clip was actually recorded in a studio, that is why there is not much background noise and it is quite a clear sound clip. I might be wrong though.
Alright, now back to serious business; I LOVE THE FOOD AT RK HOUSE. The service there is slow! The workers have bad attitude! They sometimes just could not care less about you! BUT THE FOOD IS DAMN GOOD! I figured, for this food, I'm willing to be patient and just wait for them to attend to me. I've tried quite a few stuff here. Mee goreng, Nasi goreng, Prata, Murtabak, Mutton Soup, Roti John, Indian Rojak, Naan and I'm sure there is more. Usually, I'm not disappointed at all. I always truly enjoy the food, knowing very well that I'm going to put on 3kg just by eating 1kg of food. Haha! Well, I always tell my friends, I basically diet for indulgences like these.
Price wise, it is not bad. Affordable and good. Location is practically the heart of Serangoon Gardens. I HATE Chomp Chomp. Over-rated , greasy, stuffy place. I will eat at RK House anytime and not at Chomp Chomp. RK House is 24 hours by the way; another reason why I used to be really fat. :)
P.S: If you love iced milo, RK House has the best! Please do not think that it is "just iced milo", why so fussy?! To me, when you make a perfect cup of iced milo, it brings a smile to your face. And RK House's iced milo always bring a smile. :)
Here are some low quality photos.

Food Review: Swee Choon Tim Sum @ Jalan Besar
I have visited this tim sum place numerous times! But I have never taken pictures and posted due to one reason; when the food arrives, the only thing on my mind is to eat it there and then while it is super hot. This place was recommended by my friend in NIE. Finally, I was reminded to take photos and here I am posting this.
Alright, the food here is relatively good. Service is good as well. Sometimes they are slow to respond and might forget but overall, it is still ok for me. I'm a lover of Xiao Long Bao. I just love it when it is done well and I can honestly tell you, this Xiao Long Bao is one of the better ones I have tried. I have not tried many though; tried Crystal Jade, Din Tai Fung, Mayim and maybe some others but I still love Swee Choon's Xiao Long Bao the most.
The servings here are quite small. Price is abit on the high side considering the layout of the place. They only open from 6pm to 10am daily and are closed on Tuesdays. Even though the price is a little high, I am fine with it because I'm kind of a night owl and this place is perfect for a night snack if I skipped dinner.
I have tried quite a few of their dishes and actually like almost all of it. Just a word of caution; do not order too much. I know it is tim sum and it seems like just small bites but really, it can be quite filling. If unsure, just buy a few and re-order if you still want more.
Ok ok, enough of my crap, pictures alright. Picture quality not so good, sorry about it. Here they are.

Food Review: Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe
Ok, I'm pretty sure you might be wondering why??? Xin Wang?!?! Some people love this place. Some hate this place. Personally, this is a perfect chillout and hangout place. They are clean, good environment, close late and serve good food.
I'm not sure if you guys know, I'm a crazy kaya/butter toast fanatic! I just LOVEEEEEE kaya and butter toast. It is something so easy to do but you have to do it perfectly to enjoy it. I used to drink coffee at the usual coffee shops and paid like $0.80 for 2 slices of bread with pathetic amount kaya and butter in it. I know, you guys might be thinking, why? "Just buy the bread and butter and kaya and have it at home la." But I guess it is the company and just the need to chill outside and relax.
Usually, when I'm at Xin Wang to chillout, it is just an Iced HK Milk Tea and sometimes with their French Toast. But after so many years, I just realised they have kaya/butter toast! OMG! I really did not know they sold kaya toast at all! I was just oblivious to it being in the menu because I think at the back of my mind, I assumed the price would be ridiculous and I was better off eating that at a coffee shop. I was so wrong! 4 slices of bread, smeared with fresh thick brown kaya and a few gigantic slabs of creamy butter thrown over the smeared kaya: all this for $2. I mean, WHAT?! Why did I not see this earlier?!
On a softer note, I've tried quite a few of their other dishes as well. The Pork Chop Papaya Soup Noodles, Dry Noodles with Pork Belly, Siew Mai, Mango Pomelo dessert, Pork Burger, and actually much more. I really cannot remember right now. The thing is, they have so many outlets and the quality is quite inconsistent. At some places it is good, at some, not so good. What I suggest is, if at any time, if you are not satisfied, just get the waiter to change it for you. If the waiter seems incompetent, just ask for the manager who usually wears a white shirt. Their service standard so far has been very good, at least for me. My friend ordered 4 half-boiled eggs at one time and it was over cooked to his liking. He wanted it to be more runny. So I told him to get the manager to change it. The manager came, apologised profusely and immediately got a new set prepared and served and stood by to make sure my friend was satisfied before he apologised again and went on to do other things. I think this was really nice and I appreciate such good service.
So those of you who hate Xin Wang or have had bad experiences or have never been there, go ahead and try again or try for the first time. I'm usually at the Yishun outlet or Kovan outlet. Enjoy!
A simple picture of my slice of heaven.
